Afraid Your Manifestation Isn’t Working? It Might Be This Common Mistake

woman trying to manifest with her mind but frustrated it's not working

You're doing all the things. Visualizing. Journaling. Affirmations. Maybe a new morning routine, a new budget and a new workout plan, all at the same time.

And yet…nothing’s changing. Or it changed for a week, and then it fizzled out.

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering, Why isn’t my manifestation working? I want you to know something. It's not because you’re broken. And it’s not because you're not meant for abundance.

It might be because of one very common mistake. One that most of us were taught is the right way to create change.

It’s the belief that the harder you push, and the more you do, the faster abundance will come.

I believed that too, for a long time. But here’s what I’ve learned, over and over again, in every area of my life: When manifestation isn’t working, trying harder is usually the problem, not the solution.

Let me show you what I mean...

How Long Does Manifestation Take? Here’s How Long It Took Me

Back in 2010, I manifested my soulmate in 14 days.

And do you want to know how much time I spent on it this incredible manifestation? About two minutes a day. I’d close my eyes, picture myself reading on the couch with my future partner, and feel how good it was. That’s it. I’m honestly not even sure I did it all 14 days.

Fourteen days later, I met my husband, Phil. Sixteen years later, we’re still together.

Or take my vision board. Five years after I made it, I realized I was standing in the kitchen from that board. Every single thing on it had come true: the book , the business, the house, the body. It didn't happen overnight. It happened step by step, over five years.

And my body? I released 50 pounds, and I’ve kept it off for four years now. Not by white-knuckling it or going to bed hungry, which I’d tried over and over again without results. I did it by following my guidance and healing my body gently, from the inside out.

None of it came from trying hard to manifest. All of it came from small, steady steps.

The Mistake: Trying to Change Everything at Once

Here’s what usually happens when we decide to put our energy into manifesting our dream life...

We set intentions for huge, multiple huge, massive changes, all at the same time. New morning routine, new eating plan, new budget, new workout, new journaling practice, new everything.

It feels exciting on day one. By day three, it feels like a lot. And by day seven you think, Oh, I’ll just do it tomorrow.

Then tomorrow comes, and you feel like a bit of a failure, because you were supposed to do it yesterday. So you put it off another day. And now you’re double failing!

Before you know it, you’ve stopped altogether, and you’re telling yourself you’re just not someone who can change.

That’s not true. You just tried to change too much, too fast.

This is one of the biggest reasons manifestation doesn’t work. It’s not that the practices are wrong. It’s that we’re asking ourselves to do far too much, far too fast.

Why Trying Too Hard to Manifest Backfires

There’s another version of this trap.

Sometimes we do manage to go all in on one thing, like the gym or our career. And it feels amazing for a while. Then the results start to fade, so we push harder. More hours, more effort, more force.

Eventually the universe slows us down, often in a way we didn’t choose, like an injury or burnout that has us on the couch for two weeks.

The universe isn’t punishing us. It’s asking for balance. And it’s reminding us that abundance doesn’t flow through force. It flows through alignment.

When you’re trying too hard to manifest, you’re pushing against the very flow you're trying to receive.

What to Do Instead: Make It an Easy Yes

So how do you create change that actually lasts?

You make it an easy yes.

For example, when I share certain energy activations with my students, I recommend listening daily for three to four weeks. But also know that after a few listens, a part of you is going to say, I don’t really want to keep doing this.

So I tell people to listen while they sleep. Put it on quietly at bedtime. Done. It’s so easy that there’s nothing to resist.

That’s the secret. Don’t make your practice heroic. Make it so simple you can’t say no.

Choose a Commitment You’ll Actually Keep

When I teach my process for clearing abundance blocks, I ask people to work through one block at a time. Not all at once.

And then I ask them to make themselves a commitment. One block a day, five days a week. Three days a week. Once a week. Once every two weeks. Even once a month.

I honestly don’t recommend seven days a week. Giving yourself a break is so important. The point is to be honest with yourself. Choose something that won’t overwhelm you, and that you won’t end up never doing. Something you can actually do.

Once a week, done consistently, will change your life more that seven days a week that falls apart by Thursday.

Rushing the Timeline? Trust Divine Timing

When you’re working on your abundance, it’s easy to slip into the energy of, I have to get this done as quickly as possible.

But that urgency is lack in disguise. It’s saying there isn’t enough time, and that if you don’t hurry, you’ll miss out.

Try this instead: I’m doing deep inner work around abundance, and my manifestation is coming through in divine timing.

Feel the difference? One is a race. The other is a relationship with the universe, which is in your corner and has perfect timing.

And here’s the funny thing. When you stop rushing, manifestation often works faster. These steps work, and they work pretty quickly. Phil showed up in 14 days. The rushing is what slows us down.

Let It Be Enough

This might be the most important piece of all.

When you’ve done your practice for the day, let it be done. Celebrate it! “I did this today. Look at me go!”

Then let it be enough.

So many of us finish one step and immediately start worrying about the next ten. Or we replay our blocks over and over in our minds. That’s just worry, which is really another word for obsessing. And it keeps us stuck.

When you let each step be enough, you’re telling the universe, I trust you. I trust me. We’ve got this.

How to manifest Abundance With a Practice That Actually Works

Here’s a simple way to start today. Grab a journal and answer these four questions:

  1. What’s one area of abundance I’d love to grow right now? Money, health or love. Just pick one to start.
  2. What’s one small practice I can do for it? Two minutes of visualizing. A ten-minute walk while holding an abundant thought. Clearing one block. Listening to an energy activation as you fall asleep.
  3. How often can I honestly do this without feeling overwhelmed? Be truthful here, not aspirational.
  4. How will I celebrate each time I do it? Even a simple “I did it!” counts.

That’s your practice. Small, steady and real.

If Your Manifestation Isn’t Working, Start Here

Two minutes a day brought me my soulmate.

A vision board and five years of steady steps brought me my dream life.

Gentle, consistent healing helped me release 50 pounds and finally feel at peace with food.

You don’t have to change everything today. You just have to take the next small step, and then let it be enough

So if you’ve been wondering why your manifestation isn’t working, try doing less, not more. Slow and steady really does win the race. And the abundance at the finish line is so worth it.
