Ask Erin | Why Does Spiritual Growth Feel So Hard?
You've been lied to.
One of the most common teachings in spirituality is also one of the most damaging.
We've been taught that if we're truly aligned, life should feel joyful. Peaceful. Easy.
Which means the moment life gets hard...
We assume we've done something wrong.
But that’s not what’s really going on…
Welcome to Ask Erin.
I'm Erin Werley, a God/Source channeler, bestselling spiritual awakening author, and energy healer, teaching consciousness expansion and soul mission embodiment.
Every week I answer real questions from this community about consciousness, intuition, soul mission, energy healing, God/Source, and what it actually looks like to live an awakened life.
This isn't another blog full of spiritual concepts.
This is where we cut through the noise and talk about what's actually true - even when it's uncomfortable.
Because information doesn't change your life.
Truth does.
There’s nothing random in our universe…
You’ve been led here for an important reason.

A Note from Erin
This question fired me up, because it's exposing one of the biggest traps in modern spirituality.
I see people questioning themselves every single day because their life became uncomfortable.
They assume they're blocked.
They assume they've fallen out of alignment.
They assume they're failing.
Meanwhile...
They're often standing right in front of the breakthrough they've been asking for.
So let's talk about what's really going on…
Today's Question
"When you talk about growth requiring pain and discomfort, that doesn't feel aligned for me. I've received guidance that life is about joy. Isn't spiritual growth supposed to feel easier?"
I love this question.
And I actually agree with part of it.
Life is about joy.
Joy is one of the deepest truths of who we are.
But here's where I think we've gotten confused.
People can spend their entire lives chasing comfort and never actually grow.
If your requirement is that growth must always feel joyful...
You're eventually going to stop growing.
Because every expansion asks something of you.
Every next level asks something of you.
And most of the time...
That doesn't feel comfortable.
Here's the Trap
The moment life gets hard, most people immediately ask,
"What did I do wrong?"
It's almost automatic.
"My business slowed down."
"I had a difficult conversation."
"I feel fear."
"I feel grief."
"I must be out of alignment."
No.
Not necessarily.
In fact, often the discomfort IS the alignment.
The discomfort is EXACTLY what your soul called in.
That's the part almost nobody is talking about.
Joy Is Your Nature. Comfort Is NOT Your Purpose.
At the deepest level of who you are...
You are God/Source embodied.
That part of you is peace.
That part of you is joy.
That part of you isn't judging anything.
But you're also a soul embodied.
And your soul came here with a mission.
Your soul didn't come here simply to feel good.
It came here to become more of itself.
Sometimes that expansion feels incredible.
Sometimes it asks you to walk straight into the conversation you've been avoiding.
Sometimes it asks you to finally set the boundary.
Sometimes it asks you to stop people pleasing.
Sometimes it asks you to tell the truth.
And your human says,
"I don't want to."
Meanwhile, God/Source within is sitting there saying,
"This is perfect."
The Biggest Lie Being Sold in Spirituality
We've been gaslit by spiritual gurus for decades…
We've been told that if we're doing this right...
We should feel good all the time.
And honestly?
That's one of the biggest lies being taught today.
We're in the middle of an enormous shift in consciousness.
Old wounds are surfacing.
Old beliefs are surfacing.
Past-life patterns.
Childhood conditioning.
Generational trauma.
Everything that's no longer aligned is rising into the light.
Not because you're broken.
Because it's finally time to let it go.
That isn't easy.
Sometimes healing looks like sitting on your bedroom floor crying your eyes out because you've finally become honest with yourself.
Sometimes healing looks like admitting you've been abandoning yourself for years.
Sometimes healing hurts.
That doesn't mean you've failed.
It means you're finally willing to see what's been running your life.
Let Me Give You a Real Example
This happened to me recently.
I hired someone to create short clips from my YouTube videos.
When he sent them back, they weren't what we'd agreed upon.
So I asked my guidance,
"Am I supposed to ask him to redo these, or am I supposed to end the contract?"
The guidance was immediate.
End it.
So I thanked him for his work and left an honest review.
Here's why this mattered.
For years, whenever I hired freelancers, I'd leave five-star reviews even if I wasn't happy.
Why?
Because I didn't want anyone to feel bad.
I thought I was being kind.
I wasn't.
I was being dishonest.
The freelancer became furious.
He wanted me to change the review.
Immediately my human wanted the discomfort to disappear.
"Wouldn't it just be easier to change it?"
So I asked my guidance again.
The answer?
No.
Use your voice.
Be polite, but firm.
So I explained that if he completed everything we'd originally agreed upon, I'd gladly update the review.
And that's exactly what happened.
He delivered every single thing I'd paid for.
I updated the review.
Everyone won.
But that wasn't the real lesson.
Here's What My Soul Was Actually Teaching Me
Afterward I asked,
"How was this happening for me?"
The guidance hit me immediately.
For years I'd been wondering why it had become harder and harder to hire great freelancers.
The answer?
Because I was contributing to the problem.
I'd been leaving five-star reviews that weren't honest because I didn't want anyone to feel bad. So of course I found myself hiring freelancers based on five-star reviews that weren't honest either.
My external reality was mirroring the frequency I'd been putting into it.
That one landed hard.
I realized I hadn't been protecting anyone…
I hadn’t been creating more “joy”.
I'd been leaking my energy.
Every time we abandon our truth because we're trying to avoid discomfort...
Our inner power leaks.
Every time we speak honestly, polite but firm...
Our power grows.
That's the lesson.
Not how to avoid discomfort.
How to become someone who can move through discomfort without abandoning themselves.
So What Should We Actually Be Calling In?
Call in joy.
I do.
Every single day.
Call in ease.
Call in abundance.
Call in miracles.
Call in MAGIC.
Absolutely.
But let's reframe what we're actually here to become…
Power.
Because power is who you are.
And sometimes your next level of power requires discomfort.
Sometimes power requires courage.
Sometimes power requires you to stop asking,
"How do I get back to feeling good?"
And start asking,
"What is my soul trying to teach me right now?"
That one question changes everything.
Because suddenly discomfort isn't proof you've failed.
It's proof you're expanding.

Read by millions and with thousands of 5 star reviews, One Truth, One Law: I Am, I Create is your roadmap to oneness, manifestation and the universe.
The Big Metaphysical Questions:
- Who are we?
- Why are we here?
- How does the universe exist?
- How can we access the intuitive voice of God / source / the universe to step into our role as unlimited creators?
Since the beginning of recorded history, humans have longed to find the answers to these most fundamental questions. One Truth, One Law has the answers channeled directly from God.
Everything in our universe is defined by one truth. One truth is the difference between understanding everything or knowing nothing. It’s the difference between being whole or feeling lost.
If you have the courage to set aside what you think you know, this book has the answers you’ve never quite been able to grasp. If you have the courage to read with a truly open mind, you won’t ever have to search for the truth again.
Erin Werley used to feel lost, as if the big questions were unanswerable. Then, one day, she started to receive deposits from her inner voice, which calls itself “I Am.” And everything in her life began to change.
I Am’s intention with this book is not to offer you information that can only come through Werley. It’s to teach you how to access your own inner voice so you’ll be able to make your dreams a reality.
Whether you’re a new seeker or you’ve already awakened, One Truth, One Law is the last book on spirituality you’ll ever feel the need to read.
