How To Write From Your Soul 💜

Here’s the thing about writing from your soul – that magical place writers dream about where the words flow and you’re lit up and you don’t notice that you’ve had the pen (or keyboard) in your hand for 12 hours... you would have sworn only 30 minutes went by.

You won’t get there by planning it out. Or by doing it to write a specific book – at least in the beginning.

You get there by asking your soul what it wants to say. And then sitting down and writing whatever comes to you.

Even if you don’t know what you’ll use it for, or where.

Even if it doesn’t fit into the vision of the kind of book you think you should write.

Especially then.

Holy fuck, especially then.

NEVER, EVER manifest a specific person, place or thing.

Don’t micromanage the universe.

Don’t tell the universe what you want it to give you.

Be general.

Tell the universe, I want to marry a heart centered man who loves me and is a great father to our kids.

Don’t tell the universe, I want to marry Jerry McDonald with a six pack and gorgeous head of hair. You might get him – but you limited the universe – that flow – and you just blocked your soul mate from dropping in.

Same thing with your writing.

Don’t tell the universe what you want to write about and what the cover’s going to look like. You’ll block the flow of the genius that wants to come through you –because you’re afraid to fail. You’re afraid it won’t work.

There’s only one way to find out if I’m right.

Only one way to build trust in your inner self and the universe.

Tell the universe – I’m here. I’m quiet. USE ME!

And that’s how you flow.

You get out of the way.

Far, far out of the way.

Is this uncomfortable?

In the beginning, YES!

In the beginning, you’re going to want to run away.

You’re going to want to NOT write down that one sentence because there’s no way you could ever let anyone see it – what would your mother think!?

Plus, that sentence doesn’t even make sense. If you write that, the whole story will be blown.

It doesn’t make any sense to write that sentence down!

WRITE IT DOWN.

Tell that voice that doesn’t want you to write it down, “Thank you, but I’ve decided to do things differently. I’ve decided to find my flow.”

And WRITE THAT SENTENCE THAT MAKES NO SENSE DOWN.

Another sentence that makes even less sense to what you want to write is sure to follow.

Write it down – faster this time, with less hesitation.

And I’ll tell you what – you will create a masterpiece.

You will shoot to the top 1% of writers.

You’ll make your dreams come true.

You will flow.

You will live lit up.
